When Boko-Haram kidnapped hundreds of Girls earlier this year, it was all over the news, in everyone’s newsfeeds, however they’ve been doing other things more recently, and for many years before the “popular” incident. They have been kidnapping boys and men from towns in and around Nigeria, and the surrounding countries for many, many years.
This status has only one purpose, and that is to do what the national media is not doing, attempting to make you even slightly aware of these monstrosities that are happening. I will concede, I’m not an expert in national affairs, but when the national media makes a big deal about one indecent in which several girls are captured, and not all the other times men and boys are captured and slaughtered in front of their families, it just makes me a little bit incredibly angry.
So, I encourage you to do your own research, a good place to start is “boko haram lastest” on google, but do as you wish.
We live in a part of the world where we are safe and we live good lives, and are somewhat shaded from the terrible things that do happen. It’s disgusting to me that the out of the ordinary is reported (in this case the one off sole kidnapping of several girls) while the ordinary (regular capture and routine slaughter of boys (from as young as 7) and men) remains largely unknown.
As you can tell. I’m more than a little bit angry at the world’s media.
